IRON SHARPENS IRON

Updated: Jan 21

The older I get, the more cautious I am of the people I choose to surround myself with. It’s simply because I choose not to waste any more time with what no longer serves as a positive influence. And we greatly underestimate the influence our surroundings can have on our lives. You must protect your space. And be aware of the energy you allow in your space. Energy is contagious, and we tend to imitate the people we surround ourselves with. In the presence of good people, it’s easy to be good, in the presence of bad people, it’s easy to be bad. Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future!

Unfortunately, many of us have no real vetting process when it comes to the people we allow or continue to remain in our circle. Your circle should match your aspirations! They should empower you to become better. They should want to see you win! And be aware of those that don’t clap when you win.  If the people in your circle don’t inspire you then you don’t have a circle, you have a cage! And you must surround yourself with eagles if you want to fly!

Choose your circle wisely, because not everyone is committed to fighting the battle with you! Just because they’re in your circle, doesn’t mean they’re in your corner. Some friends are there to feed you and some are only

to eat. Not everyone deserves a seat at the table! True friendship, like diamonds, owes its value only to its scarcity. Fake friends, like shadows, are always around in your brightest moments but nowhere to be seen in your darkest. So, in the next chapter of your life, you might need to be a little less accessible. The only people that get upset when you start setting boundaries, are the ones that benefitted from you having none. And those people are easy to spot because shade is only thrown on what’s shining!
